Restaurant Inspections – February 1 - Greenfield Daily Reporter

The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Dec. 4

Foxgardin Kitchen & Ale

Location: 215 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – need to date mark rice when prepared in-house and held for more than 24 hours, hand sink is for hand-washing only, not for food prep, corrected; C/R2 – home-made blue cheese dressing is past expiration, corrected/discarded; C/R3 – knife stored with squeeze bottles in prep cooler must be clean to sight and touch, must also be cleaned and sanitized every four hours when in use, corrected; NC – need paper towels in dish-washing area, corrected.

Kinsey’s Italian Cafe

Location: 6383 Broadway, McCordsville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Wal-Mart Supercenter Market

Location: 1965 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: C – hard salami date mark expiration exceeded seven days, corrected.

Arby’s

Location: 1705 N. State St., Greenfield

Violations found: C/R – some meats on food prep line too warm at above 41 degrees, do not overfill containers, corrected.

Piney Acres Farm

Location: 1115 E. County Road 1000 N., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – clean filters of hood as often as necessary, to be corrected by Dec. 10.

Sugar Creek Brick House

Location: 5821 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – employee observed touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands, mark all bottles with chemicals with common name, corrected.

Fortville Head Start

Location: 400 W. Church St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Dec. 9

Steak N’ Shake

Location: 2121 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – walk-in cooler, freezer doors, freezer floor, door handles and some legs of equipment have debris, to be corrected by Feb. 1.

Dec. 11

Burger King

Location: 1620 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

KFC

Location: 1604 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC – repair/replace gasket in counter hot hold unit, gap at exterior back door – repair/replace door sweep, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC/R2 clean interior of hot hold units/cold units/shelving with paper goods on line, to be corrected by Feb. 1; NC/R6 – chicken cooler still has odor, clean racks holding raw chicken and clean/replace mat, clean floor under line and equipment, civil penalties applied, to be corrected by Jan. 1.

Fraternal Order of Police

Location: 400 E. Davis Road, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – food handler certification has expired, to be corrected by March 1.

Carnegie’s

Location: 100 W. North St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – sanitizing solution of upstairs dish machine is too high, corrected; NC – cover/protect food when cooling, corrected; NC – clean filters of hood as often as necessary, to be corrected by Jan. 1; NC – repair/replace exterior door sweep to kitchen, to be corrected by Feb. 1.
