Three signs just inside the front window of the Long John Silver’s fast food restaurant in Palmer Township say the franchise is “closed down for good.”
Each of the three signs on the inside windowsill at 2409 Nazareth Road says “We are closed down for good.” That address is in the 25th Street Shopping Center in Palmer Township. The signs were photographed Friday.
An email sent Thursday to the Long John Silver’s corporate office in Louisville, Kentucky, wasn’t returned. Nor was a phone message left Friday. The phone number at the restaurant is now a non-working number.
The chain specializes in low-cost seafood. It was founded in 1969, according to its corporate website. By 1979 the chain had more than 1,000 locations nationwide.
The menu board for the drive-through window has been removed, another indication the store is closed permanently.
It’s unclear when the restaurant closed. Wilson Borough residents discussed the restaurant’s closure on Facebook on Wednesday. One resident noted she ate at the local franchise last week.
Similar signs indicating permanent closure appeared at a Bethlehem Long John Silver’s restaurant in October, according to a report from the Morning Call of Allentown. The phone number at that franchise at 2185 W. Union Blvd in Bethlehem is disconnected.
