Robert Sietsema, Eater NY senior critic: La Bonbonniere, Santa Ana Deli, Fonda East Village, La Caridad 78
Amanda Kludt, Eater editor-in-chief: Cervo’s became my go-to dinner choice and restaurant rec in 2019. Casual enough to take co-workers, friends, or dates, and over-delivers on the food, wine, and service. In Brooklyn, I ended up at LaLou and Otway quite a bit.
Amanda Mull, staff writer at The Atlantic: Barboncino Pizza in Crown Heights for neighborhood dinners, Xi’an Famous Foods in Flatiron for work lunches, Chuko Ramen in Prospect Heights for delivery splurges, Wingbar in Carroll Gardens for Sunday hangover wings and cheap pitchers.
Korsha Wilson, writer: Bread and Salt and Just BeClaws in JC, the Henry (RIP), Razza, Gramercy Tavern, Kopitiam, Cafe China.
Chris Gayomali, GQ site editor: Moloko in Bed-Stuy (smashy happy hour cheeseburger is real good when you’re in the mood), GNY Noodletown, and Miss Ada in Fort Greene, forever and ever.
Sonia Chopra, Eater director of editorial strategy: Fausto is my not-quite-neighborhood-but-close-enough restaurant go-to. I’m there a few times a month for a glass of wine and a snack, or a full meal: Always the suppli, always the gemelli pasta, always whatever glass the servers recommend. It’s the best.
Chris Crowley, staff writer at Grub Street: Ops, Superiority Burger, Di An Di, Yi Ji Shi Mo Noodle Corp, the Rockwell Place and Long Island Bar, there are more I am definitely forgetting.

Joseph Hernandez, food and drinks writer: I moved back to New York this year, so I was itching to scratch my FOMO itch after seeing Kopitiam plastered on every food media person’s Insta. I live in Bed-Stuy, and quickly made A&A Bake and Doubles my go-to post-gym spot.
Matt Rodbard, founding editor of TASTE: French Louie, Scarr’s, Hanbat, Momofuku Ssäm Bar, Sottocasa and Giardini Pizza in my hood. ABCv is the best breakfast meeting spot in town. The menu is like its own conversation starter (if it’s that kind of meeting). Culture Expresso, Joe’s Pro Shop, and East One for coffee drinking, buying, talking. Sweetgreen for dinner a number of times. Sometimes that really, really works.
Rachel Wharton, food writer and author of American Food: A Not-So-Serious History: Win Son. And the Queens Night Market, where I went to eat almost every single Saturday night between May and October... followed by an ice (or three) at Lemon Ice King of Corona, just up the hill. Every week I’d go in a jaded foodie oh-boy-yet-another-food-festival type mood and end up eating something awesome I didn’t yet know existed and seeing people of all ages from all over Queens and beyond having an awesome time and leave loving NYC and food as much as ever.

Serena Dai, editor of Eater NY: Most of my standbys are really not that different from last year: Fausto, Frankies, Xi’an Famous Foods, and Los Tacos No. 1 are all still faves. I added Cervo’s and Miss Ada to the mix this year and started going to Yafa Cafe almost weekly for a while. Also: Van Leeuwen more than I should have, and Superiority Burger gelato any chance I could.
Alex Staniloff, Eater NY photographer: Living in Greenpoint, you quickly become familiar with Polish food and you more quickly become familiar with the best Polish food at Karczma — always a hearty way to end the weekend with a frosty mug of Zywiec beer and a plate of kielbasa.
