Ilitch Holdings: Kid Rock won't renew deal for restaurant at Little Caesars Arena - Crain's Detroit Business

Metro Detroit native and singer Kid Rock will not renew his licensing agreement for his Made in Detroit restaurant at Little Caesars Arena, according to a statement from Ilitch Holdings Inc. early Wednesday morning.

The licensing agreement for the restaurant that opened with the downtown arena in September 2017 was due for renewal in April.

Kid Rock made headlines last month when he was captured on video at his Nashville bar Honky Tonk as he went on an apparently drunken, profanity-laced rant against media mogul Oprah Winfrey and "The View" host Joy Behar.

In a statement, Chris Granger, group president of sports and entertainment for Ilitch Holdings, said:

"We have been in contact with Kid Rock. He has voluntarily decided not to renew his licensing agreement for the Kid Rock's Made in Detroit restaurant which comes up for renewal in April. We are in the business of amazing and inspiring our fans and guests through an incredible array of world-class sporting and live entertainment events. As our venues are open, inviting, inclusive, and respectful to all, we look forward to bringing on an exciting new concept that aligns with our community and company values."

Little Caesars Arena opened with six sellout performances by Kid Rock, who also consulted on the arena's performance space.

Organizers planned a protest outside Kid Rock's restaurant on Woodward Avenue on Wednesday afternoon in response to his recent rant, WXYZ reported.
