CHAPPAQUA - When Whole Foods opens in Chappaqua next week, it will not only offer its usual array of locally sourced produce, grab-and-go prepared foods and natural and organic grocery items, but will also feature an in-store restaurant where customers can dine in or take out.
According to Alex Saa, store team leader for the Whole Foods Market Chappaqua, the Pizza Parlor is part of a new concept for the company, which has created distinctive in-store dining and beverage venues at many of its stores nationwide.
The new 37-seat fast casual restaurant, with a decor that mimics family-style pizza parlors with wood-paneled walls and avocado greens, was designed and developed exclusively for the store in the new Chappaqua Crossing development.
On the menu: wood-burning-oven pizzas as well as other hearth-roasted entrees such as wild-caught flounder Salmoriglio, chicken parmesan, spinach Gnudi, baked tortellini and antipasti.
There's also beer and wine, all of which is focused on local suppliers such as Peekskill Brewery, Elmsford's Captain Lawrence and Ossining's Sing Sing Kill. The restaurant is also using Bronx-based Terranova Bakery for its dough and Brooklyn's Lioni Mozzarella for its cheese.
