PEORIA — Qdoba Mexican Eats restaurant will be out of commission for at least a few days after a fire caused an estimated $6,000 damage in its kitchen Sunday morning.
Peoria firefighters and paramedics responded to a reported structure fire at the restaurant on 1216 W. Glen Ave at 7:06 a.m. and noted a stove on fire.
They noted the restaurant's fire suppression system was not activated, and extinguished the blaze manually within five minutes. They later activated the restaurant's exhaust system to remove smoke from the site.
There were no injuries to employees or firefighting personnel.
The City of Peoria Fire Department said the fire was caused by grease drippings on the stove.
The department said the restaurant will remain closed for a day or two while a fire investigation and a health department inspection is completed.
The latter is necessary after a fire related to a restaurant.
