When he’s not busy shooting one of his Food Network shows or tending to the vines at his acclaimed Russian River Valley winery, Guy Fieri is keeping tabs on his vast international stable of restaurants. Although the celebrity chef is perhaps best known for Johnny Garlic’s, a chain he sold several years ago, and Guy’s American Kitchen + Bar, the critically-dogged Manhattan restaurant that closed last year, Fieri has recently been expanding his dining empire at an impressive clip, spinning off new concepts left and right.
On this, the tenth day of The 12 Days of Guy Fieri, it’s time now to take a tour of the Platinum Prince’s restaurant kingdom.
Guy’s ever-growing restaurant empire
If you sit through the credits of Guy’s Ranch Kitchen, you will be treated to this title card promoting Fieri’s restaurants in 20 cities on four continents (plus a few cruise ships). The restaurants are divided up into eight core brands:
Guy Fieri’s [Insert City] Kitchen + Bar: Although the original New York City location didn’t last too long, the Mayor of Flavortown has had a lot of success bringing this family-friendly bar and grill concept to other cities around the globe. These restaurants serve an amalgam of mostly American comfort foods, like burgers (with donkey sauce!), wings, big-ass salads, overstuffed sandwiches, and Guy’s signature dish, Cajun chicken alfredo pasta. The “trash can nachos” and “tuna poke won-tacos” are staples of the appetizer menus, but each location also has a few specialties that reflect the local scene. Fieri currently has Kitchen + Bar restaurants in Cancun, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Mt. Pocono, Pretoria, Playa Del Carmen, and the Foxwoods Resort in Connecticut. The Spiky One also recently opened a Kitchen + Bar/movie theater hybrid in Dubai.
Guy Fieri’s El Burro Borracho: True to its name — which means “Guy Fieri’s the drunken donkey” in Spanish — this restaurant has a sombrero-wearing, cocktail-swigging farm animal as its mascot, and a menu that includes 24 tequilas, 11 margaritas, and four chimichangas. Fieri opened one location at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and another at Harrah’s Laughlin.
Guy Fieri’s Chophouse: This somewhat upscale steakhouse in the Bally’s resort-casino in Atlantic City lacks the visual flair of Fieri’s other restaurants, but it also includes a few items you won’t find anywhere else, like the “java-rubbed rib chop” ($50) and “Guy’s mixed grill big bite” (also $50) .
Guy’s Bar-B-Que Joint: Smoked meat by the pound, plus hot dogs, “Guywiches,” and, of course, those trash can nachos. This restaurant — which, by the way, is inspired by “Guy’s National BBQ Hall of Fame Team, Motley Que” — has locations in both the Baltimore Horseshoe Casino and Bally’s Atlantic City.
Guy’s Smokehouse: What we have here is basically a meatier version of Guy Fieri’s Kitchen + Bar, with locations in both Louisville, Kentucky, and Norfolk, Virginia. The menu features an “andouille brisket meatloaf,” “royal ribs,” and “pit smoked pig wings” (Louisville-only).
Guy’s Pig & Anchor: Fieri’s third barbecue-centric restaurant is a fast-casual operation serving smoked meat and sides like “mac daddy mac and cheese” and “old skool potato salad.” Find it only on the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Dream, Carnival Magic, and Carnival Vista cruise ships.
Chicken Guy!: A new chicken tender-centric fast casual restaurant in Orlando’s Disney Springs complex. Guy also revamped the menu at the Planet Hollywood restaurant in the open-air dining/shopping/entertainment center last year, and he brought a similar menu to the Planet Hollywood in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Guy’s Sammich Joint: Burgers, salads, and sandwiches (both cold and hot) served inside the Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City. Many of the menu items feature “sammich spread,” which is a mixture of “mayo, mustard, cream cheese, pickled Italian vegetables, and garlic.”
Guy’s Burger Joint: Made-to-order burgers with gonzo toppings, available on the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Conquest, and Carnival Dream cruise ships. Guy also opened spinoffs in the Aeropuerto El Dorado in Bogotá, Colombia, and the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California.
