Ranchi, Dec 19 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Ajay Makan today accused the BJP of misleading the Supreme Court and the people over the Rafale deal and said his party will not settle for anything less than a JPC probe
Stating that the Rafael deal was related to the national security of the country Former Union Minister and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Ajay Makan said at a press conference at Congress headquarters here that his party will not be approaching the Supreme Court over the issue but would take the matter to the court of the people. He described the Rafael scam as "the biggest defense scam in the history of the nation".
He said that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tabled false reports before the Supreme Court in the case. Mr Makan said that the Rafale scam was aimed at "causing losses to the exchequer, compromising with the interest of the nation, weakening the security of the country, ignoring state run PSUs like HAL and ensuring profit for corporate friends of the BJP".
Mr Makan also detailed seven key point over the deal which has been inked for these fighter jets with France and also laid 11 questions before the Modi government seeking answers on them. The senior Congress leader categorically said "no where the Supreme Court has given a clean chit to the Modi government over the issue, rather the court has maintained that conducting or ordering the probe in the case was out of its jurisdiction".
Jharkhand Congress chief Dr Ajay Kumar, former MP Dr Rameshwar Oraon, media in charge Rajesh Thakur and other party spokespersons attended the press conference.
