Chef Tiffani Faison has already created a food empire in the Fenway with three wildly different concepts: barbecue-driven Sweet Cheeks, Southeast Asian-inspired Tiger Mama, and snack bar Fool’s Errand. This summer, she’ll tap into Italian cuisine with Orfano, scheduled to open in the Pierce Boston building at the corner of Boylston Street and Brookline Avenue.
Boston magazine first reported the news in a detailed interview with Faison. A representative for Faison told Boston.com in an email that “…we’re able to confirm that it’s an Italian restaurant, that it’s located at Pierce Boston, and that it will will [sic] open summer 2019,” but that no further information would be available at this time.
The “Top Chef” alum runs restaurant group Big Heart Hospitality with Kelly Walsh, her wife and business partner. While details about their latest restaurant are scarce, the location of Orfano will be a prime one. On the same block as their other three restaurants, the Pierce Boston building is a towering complex with a rooftop pool, sky deck, fitness center, and luxury condos.
“We’re thrilled to have Tiffani continue to expand her empire in the Fenway and that her concept for high-end Italian cuisine fits perfectly with the entire vibe of Pierce Boston,” said Leslie Cohen, who has led the development of Pierce as principal and COO at Samuels & Associates, in an email.
This isn’t Faison’s first foray into Italian cooking. She was the executive chef at Rocca in the South End before it closed at the end of 2010. In the fall of 2011, Faison opened Sweet Cheeks, then went on to open Tiger Mama in 2015 and Fool’s Errand in 2018. Her growing empire at the Fenway has made a considerable impact in the area’s booming restaurant and bar scene, which also includes wine bar Nathálie, Japanese tavern Hojoko, and Portland import Eventide. This year, the Time Out Market food hall also is slated to open in the neighborhood.
