Flames broke out in a Providence restaurant late Saturday.
Firefighters responded to an alarm at El Mogote Restaurant at 1265 Broad St. at about 10:50 p.m. They found flames shooting out of the back of the restaurant.
A deputy fire chief said there was "considerable damage" to the kitchen, which will require a Health Department inspection.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to some apartments on the upper floors. The tenants were not displaced.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
A phone call to El Mogote on Sunday morning was not answered.
