Yes, we're in the midst of a government shutdown, but that doesn't seem to be affecting the restaurant industry; new bars and eateries just keep opening. Esters at Oneida Park, the second location of the always-packed Esters Neighborhood Pub in Virginia Village, is now serving pizza and beer in Park Hill. This weekend, the new location will also launch brunch service.
Also adding to its numbers is the 1up Arcade Bar, which just gave Greenwood Village a new reason to go out at night. This is the third in the 1up family, after the LoDo original and the second act on Colfax Avenue.

The shocker of the week was the closing of King's Land, the giant dim sum emporium that closed at the end of service on New Year's Eve. But while that favorite is gone, dim sum lovers can still get their dumpling fix, as we noted in our list of the five best Denver Chinese restaurants specializing in dim sum.
In more surprise moves, Cantina Laredo and Lost Highway also shuttered at the start of the new year; Ted's Montana Grill had already announced it would be closing its location in Boulder. That's a fast start in both openings and closings, with more sure to come.
