Videos shows Santa Con attendees trashing popular SF restaurant - SFGate

Two female suspects vandalized and struck an employee of a San Francisco restaurant after they were repeatedly asked to leave, according to SFPD.

Videos shared to Facebook by a regular of the restaurant show a chaotic scene outside Shalimar, a Indian-Pakistani restaurant at 1490 Polk St. during Saturday's Santa Con, the city's annual pub crawl. In one of them, a female suspect throws napkins at an employee. Another shows a female suspect taking a chair from outside the restaurant and repeatedly smashing the glass door of the restaurant, after being encouraged by rambunctious onlookers.

SFPD police spokesperson Joseph Tomlinson said they have not made any arrests but are doing a full investigation. Tomlinson confirmed the two women knocked over items in the restaurant, struck an employee and broke the glass front door.

An employee at the restaurant confirmed what happened in the videos and added that the restaurant had been dealing with drunk loiterers all day. The chaotic scene rose to its peak after they asked a group of more than 15 partiers, who had not ordered food but were taking up the tables, to leave so paying customers could sit down.

Tomlinson said the owner was unsure whether or not the suspects were directly connected to the large group who would not leave the restaurant.

Seven "Santa Clauses" were arrested for public drunkenness during Saturday's festivities. The celebration started in 1994 and has spread around the world.
