Restaurant Ratings Most Violations: December 3 to December 8 - WFLA

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - The following Tampa Bay area restaurants received the most violations during inspections conducted December 3 to December 8.

Edison: Food & Drink Lab at 912 W. Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa, 30 violations

  • Raw shelled brown eggs were stored over ready-to-eat sauces in the reach-in cooler.
  • A Stop Sale was issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition.
  • The cutting board has deep cut marks and is no longer cleanable.

Dragon Phoenix USA INC. at 9621 Bay Pines Blvd. in St. Petersburg, 35 violations

  • Food was found with mold-like growth in the walk-in cooler.
  • Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included: garlic in oil 62°F, noodles 64°F, broccoli 64°F, cabbage 69°F, raw beef 51°F, raw shrimp in oil 44°F, raw shrimp in cornstarch flurry 44°F, cooked noodles 68°F, dumplings 43°F and raw chicken 45°F.
  • An accumulation of food debris and grease was found on food-contact surface. This included the cutting boards, the Wok line and the rice cooker.

Suncoast Bar & Grill at 10350 W. Yulee Dr. in Homosassa, 30 violations

  • An employee failed to wash their hands after touching a phone and then putting on gloves to work with food.
  • The plumbing system was in disrepair. The sink behind the bar had no running water and the pipe was leaking under the three compartment sink.
  • The walk-in cooler floor was soiled under the shelving.

Perry’s Restaurant at 3405 34 St. N. in St. Petersburg, 44 violations

  • Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included: milk 44°F, bread pudding 45°F and butter 46°F.
  • Rodent activity was present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Approximately 75-100 rodent droppings were found ranging from hard to soft on the floor under equipment on the cook line, approximately 50 were found on the floor in the dish machine area, approximately 35 were found on the floor under the stand mixer and approximately 8 rodent droppings were found on the top of the dish machine.
  • Raw chicken and beef were not properly separated from ready-to-eat foods in the walk in cooler.

Wok N Roll at 2519 N. McMullen Booth Rd. Ste. 206 in Clearwater, 28 violations

  • Raw chicken was stored over ready to eat container of sauce in the walk in cooler.
  • Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included: breaded chicken 53°F, sprouts 59°F, cooked pasta 59°F and cut cabbage 60°F.
  • An employee came from the dining area and then began cooking without washing their hands.

Average Joe's Bar & Grille at 5858 Roosevelt Blvd. in Largo, 27 violations

  • A Stop Sale was issued on potentially hazardous cold food due to temperature abuse. This included: sauerkraut 49°F, peeled boiled eggs 49°F, scampi butter 52°F, raw chicken wings 45-47°F, raw chicken 47°F, raw bacon 51°F, brown gravy 47°F and coleslaw 48°F.
  • An accumulation of black/green mold-like substance was found in the interior of the ice machine.
  • The floor was soiled with an accumulation of debris; also the kitchen sink room walls were soiled.

Happy Hangar Café at 4241 Birdsong Blvd. in Lutz, 40 violations

  • Raw ground beef was stored over cooked pork and raw bacon in the reach in cooler.
  • Raw or undercooked animal food was offered by the establishment without a written consumer advisory. Raw animal foods must be fully cooked prior to service.
  • Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included cracked pooled eggs 49°F and butter pads 67°F.

Treasure Island R Bar at 245 108 Ave. in Treasure Island, 29 violations

  • Raw fish was stored over ready-to-eat cooked pasta and lettuce.
  • Rodent activity was present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Four hard droppings were found in the dry storage area and 8 hard droppings were found on the floor in the water heater.
  • Objectionable odors were coming from both restrooms.
