Ferndale’s Otus Supply Recruits New Chef From The Root Restaurant - Eater Detroit

Ferndale restaurant gets a new chef

Otus Supply in Ferndale has brought on a new chef to steer the menu. Nick Rodgers previously ran the kitchen at award-winning the Root Restaurant and Bar in White Lake after James Rigato departed for Mabel Gray in 2015. Michigan brewery lawsuit moves forward

A racial discrimination lawsuit filed by a black former employee against Founders Brewing Company in Grand Rapids and Detroit is moving forward in court. A federal judge dismissed one claim by former events and promotions manager Tracy Evans that alleged he was passed over for a promotion in favor of two less qualified white employees, Metro Times reports. The claim was dismissed because of a clause in Evans’ employment agreement that shortened the statute of limitations for filing such lawsuits. However, the judge did pave the way for Evans’ other complaints to move forward. He had accused Founders of unequal treatment and retaliation for making complaints regarding racism in his workplace.

Fried chicken chain plans new locations

Chick-fil-A wants to open two more metro Detroit locations of its chicken and waffle fries chain. One location, if approved by the city of Novi, would open at 27750 Novi Rd., according to MLive. Another is being proposed for Allen Park, per the Detroit Free Press. The expansion plans come at a time when other cities across the nation are pushing back against Chick-fil-A, which is known for financially supporting anti-LGBTQ groups. San Jose, California, recently announced plans to erect gay pride flags around a Chick-fil-A.
