NORTH BEACH — The family behind Koi Palace and Dragon Beaux has opened a new concept called Palette Tea House in Ghirardelli Square. It’s an updated take on dim sum for the younger generation, with colorful dumpling wrappers, luxury ingredients like wagyu and lobster, and craft cocktails. 900 N. Point St.
LAKE MERCED — Gram Cafe and Pancakes, a Japanese chain focused on pancakes, has opened in Stonestown Galleria. The main attraction: jiggly soufflé pancakes that are only available three times per day, with 30 orders each time. Beyond that, there are plenty of whimsical pancake combinations to consume, plus French toast and savory options. 3251 20th Avenue Suite #172
SOMA — Japanese chain Hinodeya Ramen Bar has opened a second location in SoMa, taking the place of Sue’s Kitchen. It’s serving a slimmer menu than its Japantown location, with a small selection of ramen, edamame, and salads. A third location is headed to the Financial District soon. 303 2nd St.
COW HOLLOW — The second location of dairy- and gluten-free restaurant Little Gem has opened in Cow Hollow. This one will have a few new menu items, including fried chicken, plus a cozy dining room and small patio seating. 2184 Union St.
SOMA — Hinodeya Ramen Bar has opened a second location in the bottom of a large SoMa building, serving dashi-based ramen and small plates. It’s open for lunch currently;
SOMA — A new rooftop bar is shaking things up atop the new Virgin Hotel. Everdene has craft cocktails, snacks, and a glamorous covered seating situation. 250 4th St.
SOMA — A fine dining chef and artist has created a hybrid art-cafe space in the former location of Lulu’s. Composed plates, an adjacent, white-walled gallery with rotating exhibits, and a retail shop for purchasing ceramics made onsite are part of Palette’s ambitious presence. 816 Folsom St.
RUSSIAN HILL — Popular Outer Richmond spot Fiorella has come closer to the general population, opening an almost identical version of itself on Polk Steet. Neapolitan pizza, pastas, charcuturie, and more can be found there. 2238 Polk St.
UPTOWN OAKLAND — Chef Tanya Holland has upgraded her restaurant Brown Sugar Kitchen with a much larger space in Uptown Oakland. Find all her signature items, including fried chicken and waffles, plus cocktails. 2295 Broadway St.
UPTOWN OAKLAND — A unique addition to the East Bay cocktail scene: Bar Shiru, a Tokyo-style listening lounge, with craft cocktails, wine, beer, and some very sleek and expensive audio equipment. A giant wall of vinyl supplies the tunes. 1611 Telegraph Ave.
DUBOCE — In the former Burgermeister location, Beit Rima is bringing Arabic comfort food into a family-owned space from a fine-dining trained chef. Falafel, hummus, and more homey dishes can be found here for dinner. 138 Church St.
MID-MARKET — From its popup at the now-closed Perennial, Nick Balla’s SmokeBread has migrated to the Market in the Twitter building. It’s all about smoked potato sourdough bread, with a variety of dips made from unloved vegetables, including a spicy pumpkin seed tahini with zucchini and green chili. 1355 Market Street
RUSSIAN HILL — A new wine bar, El Lopo imagines the culinary landscape as if the Spanish hadn’t been kicked out of California. That means local ingredients, Spanish-influenced dishes, and lots of wine. 1327 Polk Street
INNER SUNSET — Kintsugi Bistro is now open with ramen, sushi, and benot boxes. Beer and wine are also on the menu. 420 Judah street
SOMA — From chef Julio Zapata,an alum of Ijji and Sushi Ran, comes Hakashi Sushi Bistro, offering a reasonably priced list of sashimi, nigiri, and maki sushi at either tables or the sushi bar. 474 Third St.
SAN JOSE — Westgate West Shopping Center at 5399 Prospect Road got a new Super Duper Burgers.
