TERREBONNE, Ore. - Terrebonne Depot, the restaurant that was once a staple of the Smith Rock area, is set to return in April.
The new owners are Evan Schwender and Jamie Bouchard. You might recognize the couple from their Beta Bites food truck that operated in the Bend Rock Gym parking lot for the past year.
Before that, Schwender and Bouchard were chefs at 900 Wall in Bend for three years.
Schwender said Thursday he's excited to own his first restaurant with his girlfriend. Schwender also said that as a climber himself, the location is pretty special.
"Having Smith Rock down the road, that alone is amazing, being in that High Desert area with all the views that you have,” Schwender said. “It's just an amazing place to be, man."
The Terrebonne Depot closed in December after its lease with the previous tenant ended.
Schwender said the former owners approached him and Bouchard with the hopes that they could give the guests a fresh experience. Schwender plans on bringing a European influence to the local food.
Before it can reopen in April, Schwender said they need to hire 15 to 20 people to work both in the front and back of the house.
