New Northwest Side San Antonio Iranian restaurant Saffron Persian Cuisine serves up a taste of Persia - mySanAntonio.com

If the food of the Middle East is all one big blur of hummus and kebabs to you, get ready for a lesson. Saffron Persian Cuisine is serving up a menu highlighting the distinctive tastes of Iran on San Antonio’s Northwest Side at the intersection of Huebner and Babcock roads.

Saffron owner Dave Sarshab opened the new restaurant in early March. His menu features marinated and grilled meats in several forms and other lesser-known Persian specialties. Familiar orders like shish kebab, hummus and baba ghanoush can be found alongside zereshk polo, a dish of potently spiced rice and saffron-stained chicken, the hearty herbed stew ghormeh sabzi and kashke bademjan, a dish of roasted eggplant, herbs and yogurt.

Saffron Persian Cuisine is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at 8846 Huebner Road. More at 210-637-9007 or Facebook: Saffron Persian Cuisine.
