“The Last Thing Austin Needs Is Another Bar”
Tien Ho, the former global vice president of culinary and hospitality of Whole Foods Market as well as a Momofuku alum, ended up leaving Austin all together. After he split from Whole Foods back in June 2018, he originally planned on getting involved in the food scene in Austin, perhaps a bar. He even ran a pop-up dinner at Peached Tortilla that summer. Instead, though, he went back to New York to become the culinary director of the Rhubarb Restaurant Group. That catering company is opening two new restaurants and an event space in the forthcoming Hudson Yards.

”I thought about opening a bar,” Ho told Grub Street about his Austin time. He continued to explain why he didn’t go forward with it: “I don’t know if it was a midlife crisis or what. The last thing Austin needs is another bar. If you’ve been there, you know.”
