PEKIN (WEEK) – Irish cuisine is something of a unique addition to Pekin.
But since 2018, West Dublin Pub has been doing just that.
Luke has a weakness for Irish eateries so it was natural for him to check it out.
West Dublin Pub manager Lindsey Tritsch said all the food is locally sourced and “always fresh.”
“We get everything fresh,” she said. “All of our hamburger meat comes fresh from Beecham’s Market in Tremont.”
“Our seafood is fresh from Dixon’s in East Peoria. Our bread is fresh from Trefzger’s in Peoria Heights.”
Regular customers like Dave Camp said the Irish food is one of the main draws.
“Well, they have a great Rueben, but they have some good Irish fare here too,” he said.
“The scotch eggs, the corned beef, we can do the corned beef as our […] sandwich or our Reuben,” Tritsch said. “We’ll do Irish wedding soup, Irish beer cheese soup, different specials – we try to do different Irish things daily.”
Reuben? That got Luke’s attention.
“We take pride in everything we do here,” she said.
It’s also the only place in Pekin that offers axe throwing.
The total cost?
Just $13.26.
“I’m just glad in Tazewell County, in Pekin, Illinois, there is a go-to place like this.”
So the next time you’re out in Pekin and you’re feeling a bit hungry, stop on in at the West Dublin Pub.
