CARBONDALE (WSIL) -- Dozens of people headed out to the Eagles' Club in Carbondale for an 'all you can eat' pancake breakfast fundraiser Saturday.
Proceeds from the event go towards a number of charities that the non-profit organization helps fund throughout the year, but the pancake breakfast was a first for the Eagles.
The group partners with local charities and says any funds raised at their events stay right in the community.
Michael Hayes, Eagles Secretary, says the breakfast is just another opportunity for members and neighbors to come together - all with the goal of helping others.
"We're always looking for ways to bring the community together and bring awareness to people that need help - give people an opportunity to help each other. Because everybody wants to help, and they have a hard time finding ways to do that," says Hayes.
In February, The Eagles will host the Special Olympics Polar Plunge awards party. The plunge is held at SIU Campus Lake each year and helps hundreds of athletes throughout the region.
