Struggling with a trendy spot to grab a meal?
Yelp has a solution. The crowd-sourced review site has come out with its top 100 places to eat in the United States for 2020.
To create the list, a team of data scientists at Yelp pulled together the top restaurants based on ratings on the platform and the number of reviews in 2019. The list was then curated by Yelp's community managers around the U.S. to finalize the rankings.
"The result is a list that combines classic favorites and up-and-comers who have garnered lots of positive attention," Tara Lewis, Yelp's Trend Expert, told USA TODAY.
The cuisine type and style of dining vary from gyro shops to hot dog stands to white-tablecloth restaurants.
"We know that people don’t always sit down for a four-course meal. Sometimes a sandwich on the go is what you’re craving," Lewis said. "That’s why Yelp’s Top 100 list includes a range of places to grab a meal."
Lewis said that breakfast and brunch restaurants saw a rise to the top with 15 such restaurants making the list.
And some restaurants have made Yelp's list more than once. There are 10 returning favorites from 2019.
