TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - The following Tampa Bay area restaurants received the most violations during inspections conducted December 30 to January 5.
Ranch Los Magueyes Mexican at 1674 N. US HWY 41 in Inverness, 61 violations
- Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included: cut greens 48°F, cut tomato 45 pico 45°F, sour cream 46°F, shrimp 50°F and beef 46°F.
- Eggs were stored over ready-to-eat salsa in the walk in cooler.
- A server who was clearing dirty dishes from a table picked up and served dinners without washing their hands.
Highlands Restaurant at 3066 S. Florida Ave. in Inverness, 29 violations
- Clams, mussels and oysters cold were held at a temperature greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Also pancake batter 70°F, hash brown potatoes 65°F and home fried potatoes 70°F.
- Fish was thawed at room temperature.
- A dish washer touched dirty dishes then touched clean dishes without washing their hands.
Urban Cantina at 200 E. Madison St. in Tampa, 30 violations
- Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included: diced tomatoes 53°F, shredded cheese 55°F, cut leafy greens 55°F, raw beef 54°F, cheese 56°F and raw chicken 55°F.
- Standing water was observed in the bottom of the reach-in cooler.
- Dirty mop water was found in a bucket with wet mop in storage room.
Takee Outee at 3408 E. Lake Rd. in Palm Harbor, 27 violations
- The wall was heavily soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and dust in the food prep area.
- The cutting board has deep cut marks and is no longer cleanable.
- Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included cut cabbage 74°F.
Oysters Restaurant at 606 N.E. US HWY 19 in Crystal River, 44 violations
- Roach activity was present as evidenced by live roaches found. One was found on the wall by the hand-sink, one crawled inside the torn gasket of the small reach in freezer and one live roach on the shelf in the prep area.
- Rodent activity was present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. One on the coffee, six inside the basket with spaghetti and pasta, one on a large box with smaller boxes of corn starch inside and one on an empty shelf and one on the mop sink.
- A Stop Sale was issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition. Sweet potatoes were sitting on a soiled shelf in the walk in cooler, chicken with white mold like growth was found and dry batter mix had a dead fly inside.
Loon Fong Restaurant at 8150 N 49 St. in Pinellas Park, 27 violations
- A Stop Sale was issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition. Food was marked with a date that exceeds 7 days after opening and preparation.
- Rodent activity was present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. 4 hard droppings were found in the front dining area, 1 hard dropping by the fish tank in the dining room, 1 hard dropping underneath storage rack in the kitchen, 3 droppings behind the cook line near water heater and approximately 16 hard droppings were found in the storage shed located outside.
- Raw beef was stored over ready-to-eat cooked soup in the walk-in cooler.
Los Mexicano at 38954 US HWY 19 in Tarpon Springs, 43 violations
- Toilets and urinals were not functioning properly. Two of three bathroom stalls are locked in the ladies room and both bathroom stalls were locked in the men's room.
- Potentially hazardous cold food was held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. This included: refried beans 47°F, shredded cheese 47°F, cooked peppers 48°F, tomato sauce 47°F, flan 48°F and beans 48°F.
- Raw chicken was stored over ready-to-eat food in the walk-in cooler.
Paradise Café at 1123 N. Florida Avenue in Tampa, 24 violations
- Roach activity was present as evidenced by live roaches found. Two small roaches were found underneath the microwave.
- The cutting board has deep cut marks and is no longer cleanable.
- Commercially processed ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food was opened and held for more than 24 hours and not properly date marked after opening.
