Temecula Valley Restaurant Month is here and these are the restaurants participating - Press-Enterprise

January is the time of restaurant promotions, and in the Inland region, Temecula Valley Restaurant Month has returned with a new twist.

Restaurant Month takes place yearly throughout the month of January in a bid to promote the area’s restaurants during the slow season following the holidays. Normally, Visit Temecula Valley  — the area’s convention and visitors bureau — asks participating restaurants to focus on a particular kind of menu item such as burgers or flatbreads. This year, the event’s eighth, chefs were asked put forward the dish they think is best.

“Whenever you go to a restaurant, especially if it’s one of the many newer ones that we have, the visitor may not know what to order — it’s a little overwhelming,” said Annette Brown, public relations director for Visit Temecula Valley. “So this is going to help them to choose what to eat and give the chef an opportunity to showcase their favorite dish.”

This year’s lineup, which was open to any restaurant that wanted to participate, features 17 eateries. Several of those are new, including sweet spot Donut Bar, Old Town restaurant Lattitude by JR and Pechanga Resort and Casino’s Lobby Bar.

Temecula Valley Restaurant Month is one of many events across the state associated with Visit California’s California Restaurant Month campaign. And there’s a reason you don’t see the typical fixed-price menus in Temecula for the promotion. Brown said Visit California has loosened its requirements for participating regional entities over the years, allowing them to get more creative.

“It started out with Visit California asking all the restaurants to do prix fixe menus and just over the years it’s evolved …  they’re letting all the different regions do whatever they like that they think is a good fit to showcase their restaurants,” she said.
