24 Brevard County restaurants failed inspection so far in February - Florida Today

Are you planning a romantic Valentine's Day date? Check our restaurant inspection database first. Here are the eateries that have passed and failed inspection since Feb. 1.

Each inspection is a "snapshot" of conditions present at the time of the inspection and may not be representative of the overall, long-term conditions at the establishment.

Passed with zero violations

Sand On The Beach, 1005 Atlantic St, Melbourne Beach: Had 31 violations including buildup of mold-like substance on AC vents, duct tape used to repair a cooler, broken window in food prep area, old labels stuck to food containers after cleaning, to-go cups stored on the floor, raw pork patties stored over cooked lobster, cutting boards stained/soiled, no proof of required state approved employee training provided for any employees. A followup inspection netted nine violations, some of them repeat violations. Followup inspection required.

Failed inspection

Nolan's Irish Pub, 204 W Cocoa Beach Cswy, Cocoa Beach: Had seven violations including uncleanable cutting boards, old soup and mozzarella in the fridge, no chemical test kit at the sink and required employee training expired for some employees. Followup inspection required.

Jukebox Cafe, 100 Plantation Drive, Titusville: Had eight violations including employee wearing bracelets, employee cracking raw eggs and then handling ready-to-eat food and equipment/utensils, employee handling soiled utensils and then engaging in food preparation, diced tomatoes and hash browns held at above 41 degrees Fahrenheit and expired hot dogs. Passed followup inspection.

Ole Fire Grill, 924 E New Haven Ste 105-106, Melbourne: Had 21 violations including two small, flying insects found in the bar area, pesticide-emitting strip in the food prep area, cheese sauce held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit, black/green mold-like substance found on the interior of the ice machine, employees touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands, hot water not provided at handwashing sink, paper towels not provided at handwashing sink. Met followup inspection standards with five violations.

Salsa's Mexican Restaurant, 5675 N Atlantic Ave Ste 119-121, Cocoa Beach: Had 13 violations including raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food, expired sauces, rice and beans held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Followup inspection required.

Pho Cali, 830 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne: Had 13 violations including raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food, glass cleaner and tree fertilizer stored with coffee, soda gun soiled. Passed followup inspection with 4 violations.

Zachary's Restaurant, 8799 Astronaut Blvd, Cape Canaveral: Had 18 violations including duct tape used to repair a cooler door handle, grease accumulated on kitchen equipment, employee failed to wash hands before putting on gloves, pesticide-emitting strip in food prep area, sausage held at less than 135 degrees Fahrenheit, Hollandaise sauce stored on the counter, expired cooked broccoli and corned beef hash, hot water not provided at handwash sink. Followup inspection required.

Boston Market #0349, 2450 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne: Had 21 violations including old labels stuck to food containers after cleaning, whipped butter held at above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, ice machine cover and interior has soil buildup, meat juices pooled at the bottom of the freezer, ice chute on self-service drink machine had slimy buildup, interior of cooler soiled with food residue, manager lacking proof of food manager certification. Followup inspection required.

Holiday Inn - Viera, 8298 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne: Had 12 violations including accumulation of green/black mold substance in ice machine, slicer blade soiled with old food debris, reach-in cooler soiled with food residue, expired liquid eggs and half & half in the cooler, interior of microwaves soiled with encrusted food debris. Followup inspection required.

Rican's Lounge, 900 N Atlantic Ave Ste D, Cocoa Beach: Had two violations, Manager lacked proof of food management certification and no proof of required state approved employee training provided for any employees.

Olive Tree Greek Grill, 2270 Town Center Avenue Suite 113, Viera: Had 3 violations including food not held at proper temperatures and lack of state-approved employee training for some employees. Callback inspection showed no violations.

Slices Pizza, 3760 W Eau Gallie Blvd 101, Melbourne: Had 14 violations including standing water on the floor, ricotta and eggplant stored at above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, pizza slices not time marked, raw eggs stored over ready-to-eat spinach, expired sliced provolone. Followup inspection required.

Memaw's Beach Side BBQ, 600 E Eau Gallie Blvd, Indian Harbour Beach: Had 18 violations including grease on the kitchen floor and on cooking equipment, walls soiled with accumulated grease and dust, pork ribs held at above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, cutting board stained and soiled, no paper towels at handwashing sink, no soap provided at handwashing sink. Followup inspection required

Portside Galley, 101 George King Blvd, Cape Canaveral: Had 11 violations including a bag of sugar stored on the floor, grease accumulated on the kitchen floor and under equipment, several potentially hazardous food items stored at improper temperatures, reach-in cooler not maintained in good repair. Followup inspection netted seven violations with some being repeat violations. Followup inspection required.

Metro Diner, 7954 N Wickham Rd Ste 101, Melbourne: Had 19 violations including old labels stuck to food containers after cleaning, unwashed fruit and vegetables stored with ready-to-eat food, dented/rusted cans of tomatoes, cook handled raw beef, then handled cooked crab patties without changing gloves, butter re-served to other customers, shelled eggs stored with broken shells, several cold food items held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Followup inspection netted eight violations. Followup inspection required.

Cape Grill & Bar, 1000 Shorewood Dr, Cape Canaveral: Had 11 violations including soiled soda gun, interior of reach-in cooler soiled with pooling water, hot water turned off at employee handwashing sink, butter held at 74 degrees on counter, expired chicken and linguini, dish machine not sanitizing properly. Followup inspection netted three violations. Followup inspection required.

Mexico's Grill, 5240 N Atlantic Ave. Unit 170, Cocoa Beach: Had 12 violations including no paper towels provided at handwashing sink, food manager certification expired, employee washed hands with cold water, bags of rice, beans, jugs of oil, bag in box sodas stored on the floor. Followup inspection required.

Quillen's Taco Shack, 1090 Garden St, Titusville: Had 17 violations including several cold foods held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit, food manager certification expired, ice chute on self-service drink machine soiled/build up of mold-like substance/slime, reach-in cooler not maintained in good repair. A followup inspection netted nine violations. Followup inspection required.

Pizzavola, 4270 Minton Rd #103-105, West Melbourne: Had 27 violations including oil and a 5-gallon container of sauce stored on the floor, clams and shrimp stored uncovered in the freezer, pasta held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit, air conditioning condensate dripping on yeast with a to go cup in it, encrusted material on can opener blade, microwave missing handle, hot water not provided at employee handwashing sink, slicer blade soiled with old food debris, proof of required state-approved employee training not available for some employees. Followup inspection required.

From Scratch Restaurant, 1050 Clearlake Rd Unit 8, Cocoa: Had 13 violations including Alfredo sauce and cooked cabbage stored uncovered, interior of microwave soiled with encrusted food debris, nonfood-grade containers used for food storage, manager lacking proof of food management certification, no paper towels provided at handwashing sink. Followup inspection required.

Pineapple Point of Cocoa Beach, 142 N Atlantic Ave, Cocoa Beach: Had 14 violations including employee with no hair restraint engaging in food preparation, raw breaded shrimp stored over raw jalapenos, expired cooked egg noodles, cut lettuce stored above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Followup inspection required.

Grecian Garden Cafe, 2955 Pineda Plaza Way Ste 118, Melbourne: Had two violations after a followup inspection. Rodent activity was found. 

Coasters Pub, 971a E Eau Gallie Blvd, Satellite Beach: Had 12 violations including an insulated bin of chili and rice stored outside, old food labels stuck to bins after cleaning, expired reggae sauce, marinara and salsa, live flying insects in kitchen, cutting boards stained/soiled.

Twistee Treat, 1924 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne: Had 12 violations including worker chewing gum while preparing food, bottled water stored on the floor, employee handled money then didn't wash hands. Followup inspection required.
