Post-Fire Reopening
Downtown Austin restaurant Swift’s Attic is opening up again this week after it had to close temporarily in March because of a fire. The reopening date is on Thursday, June 20. Along with cleaning up the restaurant because of the fire damage, which mostly happened to the kitchen, Swift’s also implemented other minor renovations. It is celebrating its reopening with a party with food, cash bar, and merchandise (the proceeds of the latter will benefit nonprofit the 100 Club) from 6 to 10 p.m. The fire originally happened a little after midnight on Tuesday, March 12.
Torchy’s Tacos Opening
Austin-based taco chain Torchy’s Tacos is opening yet another restaurant up in Round Rock, taking over what had been former pizzeria PS 35. The 1500 North I-35 Highway store will open on Wednesday, July 3. As per usual, the restaurant will celebrate its opening with a pre-party on Monday, July 1 with free tacos and queso, drinks, and giveaways. This is its overall 54th restaurant, 17th in the Austin-area, and its second up in the suburbs. PS 35, which opened in May 2017, closed that November.
Austin Chain Restaurant Combination
Austin’s Pizza is opening a restaurant within Mama’s Fu’s Asian House at the Round Rock space at 311 University Boulevard, Suite 200, opening on Thursday, June 20. One side will feature Mama Fu’s section, and the other Austin’s Pizza, both of which are part of the Murphy Adams Restaurant Group. There’s a plan to open a similar combination restaurant in Killeen in July and Bastrop in August.
