Eleven years ago, a Japanese restaurant opened on Dublin’s Regional Street in the midst of the recession, beat the odds and thrived.
Now Amakara, having outgrown its original home, is set to hold its official grand reopening Saturday, Aug. 3, in a new space on Dublin Boulevard.
A ribbon-cutting with the mayor and city council members is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., and will be followed by the traditional breaking of the taru barrel (filled with sake). Then the restaurant will start serving at 3 p.m.
Amakara specializes in sushi, sashimi and noodles (ramen, udon, soba) and also offers donburi, teriyaki, katsu and grilled meats and seafood. The full bar serves sake, wine, beer and cocktails including the signature Amakara, with Absolut peach vodka, peach schnapps, lychee sake and fresh lemon juice shaken and served with a Chambord floater.
Details: Open daily at 11:30, with service until 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday. 7568 Dublin Blvd., Dublin; 925-803-8485. www.eatamakara.com https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2019/08/03/dublins-amakara-restaurant-will-reopen-saturday-in-spacious-new-digs/ 2019-08-03 13:45:00Z
