A Missouri couple said in a public Facebook post this week a restaurant canceled their wedding rehearsal dinner upon learning they were lesbians.
Mindy Rackley said her fiancée, Kendall Brown, had told her the owners of Madison Café in O’Fallon had called her the day after the reception was booked, and that when asked the name of the groom, Brown clarified they were both women.

Rackley said that, in Brown’s telling, the owner responded “Your spouse is a WOMAN?” and “immediately proceeded to tell [Brown] that she is sorry she will have to defer [her] to someone else for our dinner because they don’t condone that kind of relationship.”
Rackley said the post was intended to “spread the word about this restaurant so that nobody needs to feel the way that we do now. Nobody else needs to feel less then human, no one needs feel rejected, dismissed or not enough.”
The café told The Hill it had no comment on the matter.
“It’s appalling to be treated any less than human by not serving me because we are women and are in a relationship,” Rackley told KMOV, saying that while businesses have the right to refuse service she felt it was done in a disrespectful manner. The couple said they have since found an alternate venue.
