Tacos Walnut Creek, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant with a large menu, is celebrating its opening at the corner of Locust Street and Giammona Drive in downtown Walnut Creek. Look for the bright red building around the corner from Skipolini’s.

The family-owned restaurant moved into the former Andy Sushi spot at 1690 Locust Street this summer and officially opened its doors this week, offering Walnut Creek an extensive menu of tacos ($3-$5), burritos ($6-$12), fajitas ($14.75-$16.75) and more, including their house specialty, carne en su jugo ($9.75-$10.75), a family recipe of beef broth with carne asada, bacon, pinto beans, onion, cilantro and avocado served with warm tortillas.

From the website: “Tacos Walnut Creek are a team guided by a father that grew up in the food restaurant community nourishing business. Our father would take us to his restaurant from an early age to learn how to put together and prepare authentic Mexican cuisine with love, dedication, and passion on each dish we prepare.”

The beverage menu offers local craft beers, including Walnut Creek’s own Calicraft. According to the online menu, a michelada made with house beer, cucumber, lime, and serrano pepper is coming soon. Hours, according to Yelp, are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and until 11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
