
The woman stabbed at O’Connor’s Restaurant in Worcester has died and a suspect has been taken into custody, Worcester Police said Thursday morning.
The alleged assailant, identified as 28-year-old Carlos Asencio of Derry, New Hampshire, is accused of stabbing a man and a woman inside the restaurant at 1160 West Boylston St. Wednesday night. Authorities said he entered the restaurant, found the 31-year-old female victim and stabbed her before attacking a patron who had rushed to help the woman.
Worcester police said Asencio and the woman had previously dated.
Authorities were called to the scene around 7:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they found several patrons holding Asencio down.
Officers struggled with the alleged attacker, placed him in handcuffs and delivered medical aid to the seriously-wounded victim, who was brought to the hospital by ambulance.
She was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Asencio has been charged with murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, armed assault with intent to murder, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and an outstanding warrant, authorities said.
