This Gulf Shores restaurant hosts a pirates and princesses breakfast - AL.com

This summer, popular Gulf Shores eatery The Hangout has added a Disney-worthy attraction to its lineup of fun events. Every morning, starting at 8 a.m., kids are invited to experience a Pirates and Princesses Breakfast Adventure.

Offered daily through mid-August, at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., this event gives your children an opportunity to dress up in their finest pirate or princess costumes. (If you left your costumes at home, fear not – you can purchase whatever you need, from tiaras to magic wands, in The Hangout’s gift shop.) Everyone who attends receives an eye patch and a bandanna to make them look like official pirates.

Entertainers dressed as pirates and princesses will perform magic tricks, lead singalongs and take the children on a treasure hunt on the beach. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy some time away from childcare responsibilities, and the whole family can indulge in an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, grits, potatoes, bacon and biscuits.

“We wanted to create an event to engage families,” says Chris LaRocca with Hangout Hospitality Group, which he describes as “a company that creates experiences.” “The Pirates and Princesses Breakfast is a chance for kids to play and parents to relax.”

LaRocca describes the event as “kind of a musical built around a restaurant.” At the end, there’s a photo opp for parents in front of a big sand dune, where the wee pirates and princesses are encouraged to shout “yo, ho, ho!” instead of “cheese."

On a recent morning, The Hangout hosted 730 people at the event. The breakfast has been such a hit, in fact, that the Hangout team is already working on over-the-top ideas to make it even better next summer.

The price is $15 for adults, $8 for children and free for children ages five and under. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are encouraged for this guaranteed good time. Make reservations here to avoid a wait.
