Boston has been attracting international names for a while now. The W Hotel opened in 2009; Daniel Boulud’s Bar Boulud has been here since 2014; and in the past few weeks, three international Asian dining chains have staked claims to the Hub.
Zuma is now open at the Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street in the Back Bay. The latest addition to the Six Po Hot Pot global empire popped up in Brookline. Tori Jiro will be one of the first restaurants to open at Arsenal Yards in Watertown.
Zuma

Zuma Boston is the fourth U.S. location for the brand as well as the 12th internationally (excluding three pop-up locations). Located on the second floor of the brand-new Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, the restaurant offers its take on Japanese izakaya-style dining, which traditionally features small, sharable plates. Zuma is an amped-up version of that concept. The stylish interior feels evocative of New York or London or Vegas, which makes sense because the brand has locations in all those cities. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and seems excited to walk you through the new menu.
Starting with the cocktail list, there are plenty of interesting things to try. For something refreshing and light, check out the Nomikai list. For something with a little more punch, head to the Kurashikku section. As for food, remember these dishes are meant to be shared, so expect to order several dishes per person for a full dinner. The whole table will be taking bites of everything. The Maguro no tataki, the seabass sashimi and the Ora King salmon are must-tries. And don’t skip dessert!
Six Po Hot Pot
1353 Beacon St., Brookline

The latest addition to the Six Po Hot Pot line, which boasts more than 500 locations worldwide, opened in Coolidge Corner in Brookline. The restaurant serves Chinese style hot pot, which here means most of the meat options are served on skewers. This style is different than most of the hot pot locations in Chinatown, where guests simply drop items into the hot broth to cook. At Six Po Hot Pot, you place your skewered items into the hot broth and then remove them when they are cooked, still on the skewer. The restaurant is currently in a soft open phase, but reportedly has been busy, so be sure to call ahead to make a reservation.
Tori Jiro
Coming to: Arsenal Yards, Watertown

Tori Jiro — an international Japanese restaurant chain that specializes in yakitori, a style of Japanese cuisine that focuses on grilled, skewered meats — will make its home in Arsenal Yards, a major new development under construction in Watertown’s East End.
“Boston is one of my favorite cities, and I was looking to open my first U.S. location somewhere nearby that had the action of the city with a welcoming neighborhood feel,” said Yuki Watanabe, founder of Tori Jiro. “We’re excited to be a part of the growth of East End Watertown and to share a taste of Japan with Arsenal Yards.”
While Arsenal Yards will begin opening later this year, Tori Jiro is expected to open its doors in 2020. In addition to Tori Jiro, Condesa Restaurante Mexicano, Tender Greens, Pokeworks and Chipotle will also be opening on the property, developers say.
